From learning how Londoners have lived in the past to discovering how the Docklands developed throughout history, this autumn there are free BSL stories, games and workshops. Meet a host of characters who will bring the past to life. Every day over half-term there’s special events for under fives and their carers, come and join the fun. And from 25-26 October the whole half term week, the museum and events are completely free for entry. Even more of a reason to come along and have some fun!

A Nest of Vipers –BSL INTERPRETED BY ZANE HEMA

Event type: book signing and story reading from Catherine’s new book: A Nest of Vipers
Location: Museum in Docklands, Quayside room
Meet Catherine Johnson, the author of this book and find out about the Hopkins and their adventures. After you've met the heroes of her book make your own puppet character and theatre set and act out the story as often as you like.

Puppet theatre workshop-BSL INTERPRETED BY ZANE HEMA

Event type: art workshop - turn one of the characters from the book into a puppet made of card
Location: Museum in Docklands, Quayside room
After meeting Catherine Johnson the author the book A Nest of Vipers, turn the adventurous London characters into puppets and make your own theatre set to take home.

Sugar journeys- BSL INTERPRETED BY ZANE HEMA

Use the paintings and drawings on display in our new London Sugar and Slavery gallery to follow the history of the sugar trade, find out how it changed the world and the legacies today.

Put on your sailor hat and get on board with The Gingerbread man story. Who will catch him in the end?

Enjoy our Christmas themed story and make a puppet of your favourite Christmas character to take away with you.
