Special needs catered for

• All children and young people will have an education, health and care plan or are under assessment (education, care or health)

• Children and young people whose needs stem from complex learning diﬃculties and disabilities, including autistic spectrum conditions, moderate to severe learning diﬃculties, associated medical and health issues, including attachment and mental health disorders.

• We only admit children and young people whose places are funded by a UK Local Authority.

Specialist facilities

The onsite therapists – which includes Speech and Language, Occupational, Educational Psychologists, Psychiatrist, Health and Therapy Assistants and Learning Disability Nurses – regularly visit each class to help ensure our therapeutic approach is embedded across every aspect of Underley Garden life.

In addition to the statutory curriculum the school provides a range of additional activities including:

• Vocational and work related learning

• School productions and theatre trips

• Field trips and visits to enhance learning

• Ecology projects and John Muir Award

• Outdoor Education

• Duke of Edinburgh awards

• Themed activity days/ weeks

• External speakers and visiting practitioners, for example artists and musicians, who offer special projects and workshops

Underley Garden is a unique setting, providing specialist education, therapy and care for children and adults through the highest levels of expertise. Our location, on a private estate close to the Lake District, offers personal space to explore and enjoy the beautiful environment as well as wonderful opportunities to join local community activities such as our recent success as winners of Cumbria in Bloom.
