The Bridge@Barton School is a specialist school for young people aged 8 to 19 with High Functioning Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.
Specialist facilities
Barton School has a wide range of on-site facilities including a sports hall, horticultural garden, outdoor activity areas and IT suite. Students benefit from the use of specialist educational tools that support teaching and learning including interactive whiteboards.
Support services provided
Located on the site of Barton School in North Lincolnshire, The Bridge@Barton School supports young people to develop their confidence, self-esteem and independence, and equips them with the skills they require for positive integration back into mainstream education or employment. Access to Professional and Clinical Services including Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy is available on request. These services are provided jointly by North Lincolnshire CAMHS and Barton School’s regional Professional and Clinical Multi-disciplinary Team. The role of these teams is to assess and inform on individual programmes of support for those students with additional needs.

• Small class sizes of up to 4 students
• Academic accreditation through the most appropriate format, with GCSE’s at the core
• A Person-centred Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship (PSHCE) Curriculum
• Support to experience the world of Further Education and work
Year 10 and 11 students are supported to develop vocational skills alongside qualification attainment and to access careers programmes that are appropriate to them. Students leave with a record of achievement and many will go on Further Education Colleges to study Diplomas in their chosen fields, or on to Apprenticeship programmes.
General environment
Situated in the small town of Barton-upon-Humber in North Lincolnshire, The Bridge@Barton School is a purpose built service. There is a high standard of accommodation on-site and the environment is designed to be low arousal and designed for students with complex sensory needs. The school benefits from good transport and motorway links.

The Bridge@Barton School offers a real and purposeful alternative to students with High Functioning Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome.
Supporting young people with High Functioning Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome to develop their confidence, self-esteem and independence, and equipping them with the skills they require for positive integration back into mainstream education or employment.
Staff qualification and selection
Staff are highly experienced in supporting children and young people with autistic spectrum conditions. Each small class has a qualified specialist Teacher and Learning Support Assistant.
The school follows Safer Recruitment and all staff are subject to full DBS disclosures before commencing employment.
