Special needs catered for

Options Trent Acres offers education to boys and girls aged between 8 and 18 years with a range of complex needs, autism and associated learning disabilities. Options Trent Acres provides a highly structured and supportive environment which supports our children to manage their behaviour and develop personal care, social interaction and independence skills. The service is able to educate children with complex needs, autism and associated learning disabilities, this is achieved through an integrated care model incorporating the skills and expertise within our education and clinical teams. This model enables us to meet children’s individual needs and enables children to develop within an appropriate peer group.

Specialist facilities

Options Trent Acres is situated on a 12 acre site which provides a wide range of facilities and services within the homes and throughout the site, including indoor and outdoor riding arenas, outside sports area, outdoor play equipment and access to arts and crafts facilities. We recognise the social benefits of community activities such as ice-skating, bowling, roller-skating, swimming, snow dome, yoga and drama clubs.

Options Trent Acres School has many animals around the grounds including; horses, alpacas, goats, donkeys, rabbits, geese, ducks and chickens which support and encourages relaxation and a calm environment for the young people to start their therapeutic journey.

Support services provided

Options Trent Acres is specifically designed to meet the needs individuals with complex needs, autism and associated learning disabilities as reflected in our multidisciplinary team, qualified staff, staff ratios, and purpose built specialist facilities.

Clinical support is led by the Head of Clinical Services and is delivered by a core team of clinicians to include Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Forensic Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech & Language Therapists.

Our team reflects the needs of the children, young people or adults that live and learn within the schools and or home, however additional support can also be accessed from other specialists within the wider Clinical Team. This enables us to be responsive to the newly identified, time limited or changing needs of an individual throughout their placement with us.

Home school links

The School provides a personalised curriculum, carefully planned to meet the needs of individual pupils consisting of quality educational experiences at KS3, KS4 and Post 16. This is delivered through a range of accredited core foundation and vocational subjects. English, Maths and Science are at the heart of the curriculum and are offered at both GCSE and Functional Skills level. These are complimented with personalised learning routes in ICT, PHSE, Humanities, Languages, Music and Art.

The School also offers BTEC qualifications in Physical Education, Food Technology, Hair & Beauty and Land Based Studies, including Equine. ASDAN CoPE and Citizenship support the teaching of essential life skills and related learning.

Aims and philosophy

At Options Trent Acres School we take a person-centred and outcomes focused approach to providing education that is designed to help each student exercise choice and control, increase their confidence and prepare for adulthood. We believe that education should be individually tailored and delivered in a variety of environments, with a curriculum that encourages the development of functional communication, social and life skills as well as academic achievement and community access. Each student’s individual learning abilities, requirements and holistic and academic progression are consistently monitored to ensure that support remains proactive, learning opportunities are maximised and every individual achievement is celebrated.

Staff qualification and selection

At the Outcomes First Group we make a real commitment to training and developing our staff, which far exceeds regulatory required standards. Our training is focussed on the needs of the specific services as well as the individual employee and the company. We recognise that training, learning and developing our staff is key to delivering high quality services and to the success of our company.

Our commitment is to guarantee that all employees complete mandatory, refresher and specialist training and have the opportunity to undertake developmental training opportunities.

 

We offer BILD accredited behaviour support training relevant to the service which equips employees with the knowledge and skills to manage a broad range of behaviours to ensure everyone’s safety in the workplace.
