The Tower School

Special needs catered for

The Tower School provides specialist education for young people aged 11-18 years who have autism and associated conditions.

Specialist facilities

The Tower School has several dedicated specialist classrooms for Science, IT, Art, Music, Design Technology and Food Technology. The school also benefits from a school hall, a library and a safe sensory outside space

The team consists of teachers, teaching assistants and clinical therapists who support pupils with their specific needs. There is also a Family Liaison Officer who works directly with the young people’s families and carers. The clinical team work alongside the teaching teams to develop strategies to support individual needs and ensure pupils have a sense of identity, become as independent as they are able and are able to engage in meaningful employment in the future.

The schools highly skilled team tailor teaching to each young person’s needs and talents, to ensure they leave with the qualifications and life skills they need to support them on their next steps.

General environment

The school is a bespoke refurbishment of a high street location, designed to meet the needs of children with autism. The location of the school lends itself well to easily access outside learning through other facilities within our community as well as acres of Epping Forest with its play areas and substantial woodlands.

Aims and philosophy

Our vision is to create a community where education is highly valued, diversity is embraced, and young people are encouraged to take control of their learning, with the support of a highly skilled and nurturing team around them.

Our aim for the young people coming to The Tower School is quite simple; we want every young person to progress both educationally and socially. We want them to develop an understanding about themselves and to experience what success feels like. By doing this, we can equip every young person with the skills and knowledge they need to reach their full potential.
