Special needs catered for
Riverston School has a reputation within the local and wider community of South London for its’ uniqueness. We are a small Independent non- selective Day School for boys and girls of all abilities including those with learning difficulties.
Riverston Plus, a facility which is part of Riverston School, offers a well- designed and fully resourced learning support centre for pupils who have special educational needs. The pupils are integrated into the school curriculum and attend mainstream lessons wherever possible which is determined by their individual educational programmes.
Pupils are able to be nurtured in an environment tailor-made to meet their specific requirements, and for some, this means a specially designed curriculum which supports and meets the challenges associated with everyday life. This may include social and communication classes, speech and language sessions, occupational therapy help, “Travel Safe” programmes and well differentiated teaching, all guided and monitored by a qualified Director of SEN. “Bespoke Learning for Life” is at the fore-front of this ethos. Pupils within the Riverston Plus facility are thriving because they feel comfortable and confident, and are part of the mainstream school system. This is endorsed in a recent ISI Inspection which stated:
“The well designed curriculum gives good support to pupils of all ages, abilities and needs, including those will LDD. The learning support is excellent. As a result, the needs of all individuals are met, strongly in line with the schools aims”
